Minus one point for "sustainable trails"

You approach the turnstiles, and you know that when you get there, you have to give the man two dollars or he won't let you inside. But when you get there, everything goes wrong.

No trail is sustainable against mother natures wrath... points are moot.

Don tsunami 2010! the flats are, well, flattened.
The high water line, on the CN bridge at the south end, is 4 feet up the side of the bridge  Highest water I've seen in the Don.
There's a dump truck load of debris piled up at the bridge that's gonna take hours of digging to clear

Yeah, I'm with Tim, this was slightly worse than the last two years, I don't remember seeing mud piled up on the up'n'over like that, or debris at the CN bridge exit.

Higher, but not by much.

Farther down at the lower bridge, just north of the Broadview cross-over to the park, the bridge looked like it took a few hits, though has survived.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ride today with Timothy in the Don's well-rounded ruggedness. sorry you other rats were N/A. :? seeing a few obstructions or absence of treasured features couldn't compete against the mix of sweet air, moist dirt, cooling shade, great new lines, the great standing features and the beauty of the lush world full of critters on a soil one would Choose for a trail.

A great taste today of a theatre i can't find in AB, SK or in alot of BC.

trail conditions are great alla time here! The Don thrillls me with a warmth like no other place i've ridden. Props again to those who maintain  mother nature especially; even if she does f*** up our schtuff.

I was thinking about maybe taking over a shovel and garbage bag if I have some time today.

I took pruning shears with me on my last ride and took out some branches.

Way too hot & humid this afternoon, brought in a garbage bag and cleaned up what I could of the glass with my shovel for a little more than hour. I think a rake might be the ticket for the remaing smaller pieces.

EDIT:

Made it out for a ride today around 7 until 8:30, The Ridge Pottery Rd to Thorncliffe parking lot, Catalyst, Rim Trail, Party Atmosphere are all looking great except for the glass at the doobitorium which can be avoided by climbing up the line on the left.

I'm back from working the G20 and my trip to Ottawa / Montreal and I will start going down to the jumps this week, after work to help with the clean up. Is there any plans for a clean up and rebuild day ?

Bill J. (the garbage bag guy) :)

I've got a decent rake to do it with but I won't be capable of really riding for another week or so - it may be gone by then if it rains etc...

the loose stuff should break down fast and I don't see it really cutting tires, that glass is pretty thin.

Hit it this morning and the conditions were A1. Some of the more substantial tree-falls are still there, but over all it's free and clear.
Hopefully this rain holds off.

Get in while you can.

The newer high line between Seaton Park and the "Ridge", at the steep drop slope (heading south) is going to get someone killed. Folks racing off the small tree root drop (it used to be better before the trail sustainability guys messed with it) can easily have a high speed collision with folks racing down the steep slope from the new high line. I try to go only when traffic is light, but even in today's heat, there were lots of folks bombing the trails. Nothing like being first up (not that it lasted long). In skiing you make the first tracks. On the Don, you clean out all the night's cobwebs!!
